Try It Now · Virtual try-on for Shopify
Privacy policy
Last updated 4 November 2026
The short version
- We use shopper photos for one thing only: showing the shopper wearing the product.
- Photos and results are deleted automatically, by default after 60 minutes and never later than 24 hours. Shoppers can delete them immediately at any time.
- Stores never see shopper photos or results. They only see anonymous, aggregate statistics.
- We do not sell data. Photos are sent to the image and moderation providers listed in section 4, which handle them under their own terms.
1. Who we are
Try It Now is a Shopify app made by PixelFox Group AB (“we”, “us”). It adds a “Try it on” button to product pages of Shopify stores. Questions about this policy or your data: support@wearepixelfox.com.
PixelFox Group ABOrg. no. 559335-1157

For shopper data, we process data on behalf of the store you are shopping in. The store is responsible for its own customer data, and its own privacy policy also applies. For data about merchants using the app, we are the controller.
2. Shoppers: what happens to your photo
Before you take or upload a photo, the app asks for your consent. If you continue:
- Your photo is stripped of location and camera metadata (EXIF), stored encrypted, and sent to our image providers (section 4) to generate the try-on image. It is first checked automatically for content that is not allowed, such as nudity or images of minors. Photos that fail this check are deleted immediately and are not stored anywhere.
- The result image is stored encrypted and shown to you through a private link that expires.
- Deletion: your photo, the result and every derived file are deleted from our storage when you press “Delete now”, or automatically when the store’s retention time runs out. That is 60 minutes by default and never more than 24 hours.
- Reusing your photo: if you choose to keep your photo to try other products, it is kept for up to one hour, then deleted. You can delete it earlier from the try-on window.
- Downloads and sharing happen on your device. Once you download or share an image, that copy is under your control.
We never write photos or results to our database or logs, never show them to the store, and never use them for anything other than your try-on. The service is for adults (18 or older, or with a guardian’s consent).
Usage data
To show stores how try-on is used, we record anonymous events such as “button clicked”, “try-on completed”, “added to cart” and “order placed”. Events are linked to a random identifier stored in your browser (dresser_sid), which we hash before storing, not to your name, email or account. For orders, we record the order and product IDs and the order value, so the store can see whether try-on helped. Stores only see these numbers in aggregate.
Your IP address is used briefly in memory to prevent abuse (rate limiting) and is not stored.
3. Merchants: what we store about your store
- Your store’s domain and the access token Shopify issues when you install the app.
- Your app settings: which products have try-on, button design, retention time, moderation level and plan.
- Product data needed for try-on: product IDs, titles, categories and public product image URLs.
- Your plan and usage, so we can bill through Shopify. Payments are handled by Shopify; we never see card details.
- The anonymous usage events and order statistics described above.
4. Service providers
We use these providers to run the app. They only receive what they need for their part of the service.
| Provider | Purpose | Data |
|---|---|---|
| FASHN | Generating try-on images | Shopper photo, product image |
| Google (Gemini API) | Generating try-on images (fallback, accessories) | Shopper photo, product image |
| Sightengine | Content moderation | Shopper photo, result image |
| Amazon Web Services, Stockholm (Sweden) | Encrypted temporary storage of photos and results | Shopper photo, result image |
| Fly.io, Stockholm (Sweden) | App hosting | All data in transit |
| Neon, Frankfurt (Germany) | Database | Store data, settings, anonymous events (no images) |
| Shopify | App platform and billing | Store data, billing |
FASHN, Google and Sightengine process shopper photos under their own terms of service and privacy policies, which decide how long they keep data and what else they may use it for. Some of them may process data outside the EU/EEA, including in the United States. Where a provider offers the option, we configure it not to keep generated images after they are returned to us. We delete our own copies as described in section 6.
5. Legal basis
Processing of shopper photos is based on your consent, which you give in the try-on window and can withdraw at any time by deleting your photo. Anonymous usage statistics and merchant data are processed to provide the service the store has signed up for, and for our legitimate interest in preventing abuse.
6. How long we keep data
- Shopper photos and results: until deleted by the shopper, or at most the store’s retention time (default 60 minutes, maximum 24 hours).
- Saved photos for reuse: at most one hour.
- Anonymous events, order statistics and store data: while the app is installed. When a store uninstalls the app, all remaining photos are deleted immediately and the rest of the store’s data is deleted when Shopify sends its data-erasure request, 48 hours after uninstall.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete and port your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. Because shopper photos are deleted within hours and usage data is not linked to your identity, there is usually nothing we can identify as yours. Shopify forwards customer data and erasure requests to us, and we handle them. You can also contact the store or us at support@wearepixelfox.com.
You can complain to a data protection authority. In Sweden that is the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY, imy.se).
8. Security
Photos and results are encrypted at rest and in transit, reached only through short-lived signed links, and kept in a private storage bucket. Access to production systems is restricted to the people who run the app.
9. Changes
We update this policy when the app changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. Significant changes are announced to merchants in the app.
